Buying Guide

Buying with Victor Mee Auctions has never been easier. With a view to making your experience with us as comfortable as possible, we’re pleased to offer a range of bidding options to ensure that, no matter your circumstances, you’ll never have to miss that unmissable lot.

Room Bids

Good old-fashioned room bids. Nothing beats being there, in the flesh, feeling the atmosphere and bidding in the room. Come down to our saleroom and register with us. We’ll ask you for some I.D, take a few details and allocate you a paddle number.

When the auction kicks off, just wave that paddle in the air to bid. It’s really that easy. Lots won will be allocated against your paddle number and we’ll forward you your invoice.

Absentee Bids

Can’t make it to a sale? Fret not. We invite you to simply leave your bids with us and let us do the rest.

Auction catalogues are made available online prior to all sales so buyers can peruse lots at their leisure and leave a bid, assured that there’s no need to standby on tenterhooks all evening.

Follow this link to register for an upcoming auction and leave your maximum bid. We’ll then do the bidding on your behalf up to your stated maximum amount.

Alternatively, feel free to give us a call or send us an email and we’ll be more than happy to register you and take absentee bids.

(Please note that absentee bids must be made at least 24 hours in advance of the auction to ensure timely and accurate implementation of same)

Online Bidding

All of our auctions are broadcast live online and clients are invited to join us from the comfort of, well, anywhere, really! Such is the convenience of online bidding!

To register for online bidding, just follow this link. Once registered, you’re all set to join the auction and bid live.

(Please note that additional charges may apply for online bidding.)

Telephone Bids

Unsure? Sometimes your bidding will just depend on how things are looking on the day. We understand. That’s why we’re happy to offer you the chance to do your bidding live over the phone with one of our dedicated staff. Get in touch with the team at least 24 hours in advance of the sale, we’ll get you registered and arrange a call back for you when your lots come up. This allows you the peace of mind of knowing that you’ll be live in the auction room with a member of our team looking out for you.

What about the small print?

Buyer’s Premium

Buyers fees are charged at 20% of the hammer price and VAT (of 23%) is charged on the premium only.

Example? If the hammer falls at €100.00, you’ll pay an additional €20.00 premium + €4.60 VAT, making your invoice total €124.60.

Collection

While many bidders attend our auctions live and can take won items home with them, we understand that collection arrangements can often take a little bit of time. We are happy to hold lots on premises (at buyers own risk) for a maximum of 10 days post sale. As we are continually taking in stock, please note that items uncollected in excess of the 10-day period will begin to accrue storage charges.

Can’t collect? No problem. Just let us know. We offer reliable packing and shipping services. No item too big, no distance too far, Victor Mee Auctions ships globally.
